The natural growth rate stood at -2.1 per thousand at national level and varies from Bolzano up 1.9 per thousand to 7.8 per thousand of Liguria. Molise also (-5.4 per thousand), Friuli-Venezia Giulia (-5.1 per thousand), Piedmont, Tuscany and Umbria are particularly accentuated natural decrease (all -4.8%). The natural growth rate of foreigners is equal to the national average of 13.1 per thousand. The highest values were recorded in Emilia Romagna and Lombardia (15.2 per thousand), the lowest value in Sardinia (7.4 per thousand).
